Born in Bryn Mawr and raised in West Chester Pennsylvania, Monica Nask received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and went on to study painting at the School of Visual Arts, NY and the New York Academy of Art, NY. After 20 years in New York, she moved to the coast of New Jersey. It is there that she discovered her love for the horizon.
She pushes the boundaries between realism and abstraction in her landscape paintings. Monica uses palette knives to layer and scrape away paint on the canvas to create broad fields of color. The work is then recognizable as a landscape while allowing the viewer to travel in their imagination.
You can find Monica’s work exhibited throughout the Tri-states and private collections abroad. Her exhibition list includes solo shows at Gallery 211, in Red Bank, NJ; Beacon Art Shortwave Gallery, Stone Harbor, NJ, and SOMA Gallery, Cape May, NJ in 2021 and 2022.
