“Decades in the fashion industry and graphic design world have led me back to my easel, my art, where I savor the ritual, the concentrated moments of joy and creation. The joy of tea is in the ritual: putting the kettle on the stove, spooning out tea leaves, and savoring the first sip. It warms, it cools, it cheers you, and it will also calm you. So, too, do my days at the easel in my studio. An unexpected shape evolves, leading to a playful exploration of color and form. I gather inspiration from old photos, song lyrics, and acts of kindness. I study details, revel in textures, and find wonder in organic shapes, their irregularity, and their unpredictability. I paint to stay close to my soul.” – Marguerite Montserrat
